Facilities Master Plan Overview In
July 2003, the newly formed Zachary Community School System officially
took control of the existing school facilities to be utilized for teaching
the children of the community. The school system was immediately faced
with questions regarding the ability to accommodate the present
overcrowding as well as the anticipated future growth: What additional
facilities are needed at each school? What condition are our facilities in
now? What new schools are needed? How long will it take to implement? In anticipation of these concerns, the School Board formulated a Building and Facilities Committee in January 2003 made up of citizens from the community. The task of the committee was to begin the process of assessing the long term needs of the school system. The committee met weekly for several months prior to issuing a final report. The committee found that improvements were needed at all of the facilities. Offering three options, the committee explored varying degrees of improvements from all new schools to minimal improvements to the existing facilities. The final consensus was that further study would be needed and detailed master planning would have to be done by a professional planning firm. The entire design and construction effort is being professionally managed by CSRS, Inc. The board selected CSRS, Inc. because of their experience in managing similar programs and their familiarity with the existing school system and master plan. |
