Northwestern Elementary
Overview
Northwestern Elementary School located in Zachary, Louisiana was built in 1968. It is located off of Rollins Road with frontage along Shaffett Lane at the rear of the property.The main building is a one-story brick building containing the administrative areas, library, cafeteria, kitchen and classrooms. Also on campus are several T-Buildings and a newly constructed "Quad" classroom building completed in the summer of 2002. As a whole, this campus is probably in the best shape of all the schools in the system. The biggest problem is the severe overcrowding and facilities that were designed for a much smaller population. The eight additional classrooms together with the three gained by the purchase of the adjacent property will give the school an additional eleven classrooms. This will bring the total number of permanent classrooms to 33. This school will accommodate up to 600 students without a single T-Building at a student:teacher ratio of 18:1.
